Casa Simpson – Tapichalaca Reserve

Sanctuary of the Jocotoco Antpitta

Perched at 2,500 meters above sea level, with sweeping views of Cerro Tapichalaca, Casa Simpson is your gateway to the heart of Ecuador’s high Andean cloud forest. This lodge immerses you in an environment of extraordinary biodiversity—ideal for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and avid hikers.

Our trails wind through mist-draped forests rich in plant life, where orchids and endemic vegetation surprise you at every step. This paradise is also home to one of the world’s most sought-after birds: the Jocotoco Antpitta—a species so rare that this is the only place on Earth where it can be reliably observed. A once-in-a-lifetime experience!

The lodge features seven cozy rooms, each with a private bathroom, built using local materials and fully integrated into the Andean landscape. Our spacious panoramic restaurant blends traditional Andean flavors with breathtaking mountain views, while the comfortable lounge area, complete with a wood-burning stove, is perfect for relaxing and sharing stories after a day of adventure.
