In the heart of the Jorupe Reserve, near Macará and the Peruvian border, Urraca Lodge is a nature retreat located at 500 meters above sea level, where peace and biodiversity are present at every turn.

The lodge’s six cozy cabins are designed to offer comfort, natural light, and harmony with the surroundings. Every detail invites you to fully experience the magic of the Tumbesian dry forest.
Our six private cabins, each with an en-suite bathroom, ensure a comfortable stay in the middle of the forest. The open social area, featuring a panoramic bar-restaurant—considered the best in the region—lets you enjoy delicious meals while watching rare and endemic birds, such as the captivating Rufous-headed Scrub-Tyrant, one of the world’s most endangered bird species still found in this region.

Trail 1 – Forest of Giants
Wander through one of the best-preserved remnants of Tumbesian dry forest, where colossal ceiba trees stand like ancient guardians. An ideal trail for birdwatching and connecting with nature.
Trail 2 – The Goblin’s House
This path hides a special surprise: a massive, whimsical ceiba tree known locally as La Casa del Duende (“The Goblin’s House”). Its magical, storybook-like shape must be seen to be believed. Dare to discover it?
Trail 3 – Creek Route
Cross the upper stretch of a dry ravine, perfect for mountain biking and active hiking. Along the way, you’ll encounter ceiba trees so unique they’ve been named—like the mighty Ceiba Macho and the curious Ceiba La Casita, natural sculptures shaped by time itself.

From Macará, take the road heading east from the northern part of the city, toward Sozoranga. The reserve is located 10 km along the main paved road. The entrance to the lodge is on the left (there is a large metal sign). Once you enter the reserve, continue for two more kilometers along the road until you reach Urraca Lodge. If the gate is closed, one of our park rangers will be able to assist you.
